Healthy values of an organic lifestyle.

Why not make a pact to replace just one of your everyday products each month with an organic one instead.  Be kinder to yourself, your wildlife, and create an overall healthier planet. Robin Walden

At the core of our values is a commitment to offering our customers an extraordinary range of Organic and Biodynamic Foods. We believe that the way to a healthy society is through healthy foods.

We are a member of the Organic Farmers & Growers Association. Organic means working with nature, not against it. It means higher levels of animal welfare, lower levels of pesticides, no manufactured herbicides or artificial fertilisers and more environmentally sustainable management of the land and natural environment.

In 2015, over 17,800 tonnes of pesticides were used on British farms. Many pesticides don’t just kill the target pests, they can affect other wildlife and the environment by direct poisoning, contaminating water courses or disrupting ecosystems.

Glyphosate—the active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup—is the most widely sold weed killer in the world. Government figures show its use in UK farming has increased by a shocking 700% in the last 20 years. Nearly a third of UK cereal crops were sprayed with glyphosate in 2013. 60% of wholemeal bread samples tested by the Defra committee found Glyphosate residues in Food.

Biodynamic is sometimes described as Organic plus. It has at its core the idea that the farm is a self-contained, self-sustaining organism. Biodynamics grew out of the work of Rudolf Steiner back in the 1920’s. It uses no pesticides, works in tune with the lunar cycles when it comes to planting and harvesting and has an utmost respect for the vitality and health of the soil.
